Effective this month, the amount of the Federal Universal Service appearing on your bill each month will increase as a result of an increase in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) universal service fund contribution factor. This factor may change quarterly, depending on actions taken by the FCC. The Federal Universal Service Fund is designed to help keep local service rates affordable for all customers in all areas of the United States and to provide schools, libraries and healthcare facilities discounted communications services.
